How post-surgical scar tissue reduction is helpful

  • Prevent Reactive Postural Pain

  • Maintain a healthy gait

  • Prevent chronic edema

  • Improve general heath by getting back to regular daily activities sooner

Benefits:

Reduces numbness, hypersensitivity, swelling, and pain present with and without movement. This makes physio rehabilitation more effective, improves quality of sleep during healing, and improves mental health - with getting out of pain and back to their daily activities sooner.

Why professional massage instead of self-massage?

When patient come in for these treatments, I do always inquire if they would like me to teach them how to treat the scar tissue themselves.

Some enjoy learning about it ad some have a strong negative emotional reaction to touching their own scars.

Number of treatments needed:

3 treatments to the surgical site can have great success. Treatments to compensatory areas depends on the patients tolerance to touch, general health, and their ability to maintain mobility through exercises.

Types of surgeries that I have treated:

Hip, knee, and shoulder replacements, repaired and casted breaks of ankles and wrists, abdominoplasty, hysterectomy and C-section scars, breast reductions, post cancer mastectomy - with and without implants.

Breast implants without mastectomy - reduces scaring around the implants for encapsulation and encourages the position of the implants from sitting uncomfortably high.
